Launch of the regional project on ‘Investigation of microplastics (MP), contaminants of emerging concern (CEC) and their risk assessment to fisheries and aquaculture in the Mekong River Basin’ funded by Mekong Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund managed by Mekong Institute.
The project is led by the Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment, Vietnam in collaboration with Kasertsart University and Rajabhat University in Thailand and University of Technology, Sydney, Australia and Pusan University, Korea. The three year project (2024-2027) aims to assess the status, distribution, and associated risks of micro plastics (MP) and CECs in the water environment while identifying effective solutions to mitigate these risks in water and sediment within the Mekong River Basin in Vietnam and Thailand, establishing correlations between MPs and CECs in the river water environment. Project is launched on March 26, 2024 at Hanoi, Vietnam.
