May to July 2024 Project Launching: The project "Integrated River Basin Management of the Mekong Basin Tributary for Adaptation to Climate Change” was launched on May 16th, 2024 by the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The hybrid (in-person and online) launching event highlighted presentations by key project members, and project partners detailing the project goals, activities, and M&E and presented the outputs/outcomes of the project. The launching also ensures the participation of the stakeholders so that they are well-informed, engaged, and committed to supporting the project implementation from the start. Attending the event, were the project partners, ITC Director, Mekong Institute participants member (MKCF), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ MoFA.
Following the project launching, a preliminary community site visit and stakeholder engagement took venue in Kampong Speu Province – Cambodia on May 25th -28th, 2024. The site visit was aimed at investigating ground information on water resources and watershed management, conducting field investigation, meeting relevant stakeholders and familiarizing with the project site.
An ensuing site visit for identifying NBS demonstration site in Kampong Speu Province was on June 29-30, 2024. The aim was to conduct a field investigation in the project study area to gather information about the study area and identify potential NBS demonstration sites in the Stung Prek Tnaot River Basin in Kampong Speu Province, and aim to assess and select potential demonstration sites for natural-based solutions.
Workshop on "Integrated River Basin Management of the Mekong Basin Tributary for Adaptation to Climate Change" under Mekong-ROK Cooperation Fund (MKCF)
The inception workshop was held on July 30-31, 2024 to present project goals and methodologies, followed by interactive sessions for stakeholder engagement.
The objective of the workshop:
1. to establish common understanding: Introduce project goals, scope, methodologies, and expected outcomes to align all participants.
2. to enhance stakeholder engagement: engage key stakeholders to integrate their insights into the project’s strategic planning.
3. to outline the implementation framework: discuss the project management framework, including monitoring, evaluation, and risk management strategies. 4) to gain support and commitment from stakeholders, including community leaders and government agencies, ensuring collaborative effort towards project goals.

The workshop comprised of group discussions and breakout sessions focused on strategic planning and securing commitments. The event included a field visit to selected pilot sites at Kampong Speu for practical insights into local challenges, critical for the project's success.
