Structured Learning Visit on Exploring Best Practices for Water Resources Management in Korea

November 24 - 30, 2024 | Republic of Korea

Overview

KOMEC is implementing the ‘Integration of Knowledge Hub for Water and Environment in the MKCF Framework’, a project supported by the Mekong-Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF). The project aims to align with the objectives of fellow MKCF-supported initiatives related to water resources management, through partnership and close dialogues. KOMEC will closely collaborate with project implementing agencies (PIAs) on several activities such as: (i) technical workshops, (ii) capacity building programs, and (iii) milestone events.

On 24–30 November 2024, KOMEC will organize the first capacity building training for PIAs in the Republic of Korea. The training is a structured learning visit designed to explore the best practices of Korea on water resources management and to provide opportunities for partner PIAs to identify feasible partnerships with Korean institutions. The training programme was developed based on the technical themes of each MKCF projects, identified through the previous activities (i.e., 1st and 2nd technical workshops and milestone event), held in the Mekong region (i.e., Bangkok, Thailand and Vientiane, Lao PDR, respectively).

The PIAs can gain practical knowledge and insight on how the existing best practice relates with the enhancement of MKCF project objective and activities.

Outcomes

  1. Strengthen comprehensive understanding of best management practices on water resources management in Korea
  2. Enhance new project ideas by incorporating the insights/learnings and built professional network gained through the capacity building program.
  3. Foster technical exchanges between experts among ROK and Mekong countries.
