Due to the rapid growth of population, climate change and environmental pollution, clean water resources have become scarce, seriously affecting people’s wellbeing, especially in the rural areas. Advanced technologies and solutions from developed countries like the Republic of Korea is essential for the countries of the Mekong Basin to improve the living condition of their people and tackle the environment problems.

  • 1. Short term: 1. Build and Operate one Model RFD system at 5 Mekong countries each 2. Supply 500 L/day whole year 3. Water Quality to meet National DWQS 4. Organize a local management committee and let them operate it with sense of ownership for sustainability
  • 2. Long term: Suggest to make a local regulation or national laws to promote RFD; Share Korean culture and tradition of Rainwater Management; Promote RFD through local and international media

  • 3.Sustainable management of RFD system can be achieved through the activities of BiTS and Skywater Committee.
  • 4. An international network of Rain Schools in Mekong countries started to facilitate knowledge-sharing and capacity-building.
