CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT ON DEVELOPMENT OF STATISTICS

Myanmar’s statistical system was highly fragmented, with no unified coordination across ministries and commissions. The absence of professional agreements and standardized procedures had left statistical activities marginalized within government operations. To address these challenges, the Central Statistical Organization (CSO) led efforts to reform the system through the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS). Through 12 targeted statistical development trainings, the project aimed to build technical capacity to support the NSDS. Its objectives were fourfold: first, to establish an integrated system for statistical production, analysis, and dissemination; second, to enhance staff capabilities through systematic training in modern statistical methods, from data collection to data compilation; third, to develop sufficient infrastructure to support statistical advancement; and fourth, to implement a human resource development program leveraging modern IT-based data storage solutions.  Read more...
